Placenta Encapsulation

Wildflower Birthing services is providing Houston with the highest quality of care in placenta encapsulation. Marissa is a certified placenta specialist and processes each order herself ensuring the safety and quality of your order.

Placentophagy is the act of consuming the placenta after birth, most mammals do this instinctively! Theres records all throughout history of birthing people doing this too, but the most common way these days is with placenta encapsulation. This is the process of dehydrating the placenta, turning it into a powder and then putting the placenta powder into capsulated pills.

The placenta is an amazing super organ that the body produces during pregnancy, it has the job of lungs, kidney, liver and stomach all for the support of the fetus. It also has the job of all the horomone production needed for a pregnancy. After delivery of the baby, there’s the delivery of the placenta and this will be the most dramatic horomone drop a person will probably experience in their life, this is why so many birthing people experience the “baby blues” in the first 2 weeks after birth.

The placenta contains many vitamins, minerals and horomones inside of it and by consuming it after birth you could give your body a head start in your healing process with regulating your horomones and get back some of those vitamins and minerals. This is why I say placenta encapsulation is postpartum care!!

Parents who consumed their placenta after birth have reported a faster recovery, high energy levels, reduced postnatal bleeding, increased milk supply, increased mood stability, and decrease in reports of the baby blues and post partum depression!

Services I Provide

*Bookings made before 37 weeks are guaranteed a transport kit, this includes a cooler. After 37 weeks, families will be responsible for getting a cooler for proper storage after birth.

Raw Method - The placenta is cleaned and sliced before dehydration. This can result in a stronger release of horomones and energy upon consumption.

Steamed Method - Inspired by traditional Chinese practices the placenta is cleaned and then steamed before dehydration. The placenta will be steamed with lemons/lemon juice, ginger and cayenne, it is believed that these ingredients promote grounding, detoxifying and healing traits to the consumer. This process can result in a slower, gentler release of horomones to the birthing person. Steaming also results in a shrinkage of the placenta and yields less capsules.

Umbilical cord keepsake - this is complimentary to all packages. The umbilical cord gets shaped and then dehydrated for a lifelong keepsake.

Fujifilm “poloroid” photo - A film photo of your cleaned placenta that you get to cherish forever. This is complimentary to all packages.

Placenta print/art - This a direct print of the placenta on acid - free artist paper. The print resembles the beautiful tree of life

Placenta Tincture - A piece of dehydrated placenta infused in 4 oz. of gluten free, Texas made, Tito’s Vodka. This tincture will last you a lifetime if properly cared for. After 6 weeks, your capsules will be gone and your tincture will be ready to continue to support you postpartum. Can also help with future hormonal changes, menstruation, weaning and menopause.
